Finally, My Journey Begins!

Hi there and welcome to my blog.

I’ve been dreaming about starting this blog since 2008, to share practical ideas and insights about a lot of things to help create a better life and business.

I’ve found that whenever we try to do something that’s meaningful to us, there are some common fears and excuses that stop us, and that’s exactly what stopped me from starting this sooner. It was the mixture of fears and too many ideas, that made it easy to get distracted and procrastinate.

I finally realised that the timing was never going to be right, the stars were never going to be aligned, I was never going to be 100% ready, and that I shouldn’t allow my fears to stop me from following my dream of starting this blog and connecting with you.

So, Let’s Start Right Here, Right Now…

Hi, I’m Urmil Patel (a.k.a. the better life and business guy) and I’m so happy that you are here.

Are You Living The Greatness You Were Created For?

I truly believe we are all meant to accomplish great things in our lifetime.

I believe that, like me, you have dreams that you’ve ignored for far too long. You have amazing gifts and talents that are meant to make this world a better place and yet you still keep them bottled inside.
And I know that settling for mediocrity isn’t your style because you deserve and want more out of life…

What’s Holding You Back?

Is it fear? Is it a lack of confidence? Is it a lack of direction?

Or perhaps it’s a lack of knowledge, perhaps you’re not sure how to get started and what to do next?

Or maybe you’re trapped in the rat race and just can’t spare the time or energy to find a way out?

Does the 9 to 5 Cubicle Lifestyle Still Excite You?

Somewhere between your “I can do anything” childhood years and your first job interview, someone sold you what I like to call the 9 to 5 cubicle lifestyle (a.k.a the rat race or the old plan).

It’s a plan that goes something like this…

Study hard and get a good education…

…so that you can get a good job with job stability….

…because you’ll need a good job and stability to get a mortgage…

…And once you have a mortgage and are settled, you’ll be able to find a partner and have some kids…

…And after about 40 years of working hard and raising those kids, you’ll have earned the right to retire and enjoy your golden years.

I’m sure you’ve heard of this plan before.  Many still believe its the only plan available for their lives.

Did you buy into this plan or something similar, and if so, does it really still excite you?

It’s Not Your Fault, I Fell For This Plan Too, For a While…

I don’t believe that you and I were put on this beautiful planet to spend 8 hours a day, 5 days week chained to a desk, at a job we hate, working for a boss we can’t stand to build someone’s else business.

And Certainly Not For The Measly Rewards of…

2- 4 weeks holiday (time off) a year at a time convenient for the company, and just enough money each month to afford to pay the bills, put some food on the table and cover a mortgage we’re chained to for the majority of our adult lives….

Or For a Lifestyle Where…

We’re surviving on credit, so we can occasionally indulge ourselves in the little luxuries to help us overcome the depression of our zombie like existence, praying that we don’t fall ill, or lose our jobs, or reach the end of our lines of credit.

And we’re supposed to continue living on the edge of this treadmill for 40-50 years, hoping that by the time we reach our golden retirement years, we’ve paid off our mortgage, only to realise that in order to release the equity in our home, we have to sell up and downsize.

And all the time hoping we’ll stay healthy enough and wealthy enough to do all those things we wanted to do with our lives. All those things that our hearts desired so much and the reason we slaved so hard and saved our pennies over the years….

It’s Not The Best Plan, Is It?

I don’t think so, It’s definitely not for me, and I hope it’s not for you…

We all sometimes need to be reminded that it’s just a plan. Its not set in stone, and it certainly doesn’t have to be the plan that defines your life. It’s never to late to make some changes and improvements in your life and business and that’s exactly what I hope my writing on this blog will help you do.

I’m not saying it’s time to jump ship and quit your job, not yet anyway. I’m saying it’s time to accept that there may be better ways to live well and earn a better than average living, and perhaps it’s time you explored some of these other options.

Let me be the first to congratulate you and tell you how excited I am that you’re on this journey to create a better life and business. And remember, regardless of your age or experience, you have plenty of time to learn new skills to do something meaningful with your life, to do all the things you love doing, to work with people that bring out the best in you, to make money with an online business and to live life on your terms.

What’s My Plan For This Blog?

This blog is my online home and I plan to use it as my testing ground, my classroom and my stage to discover and share how to create a better life and business.

This is where I will test out my ideas, share my work, my life’s journey, my experiments in life and business, my goals and passions, my adventures and experiences, my travels, my research and discoveries, my a-ha moments and my “what was I thinking” moments and everything in between, in the hope that when you need some inspiration or guidance, or face an obstacle in life or business, or perhaps just want a fresh perspective on things, you’ll find something useful on this blog that will give you the clarity you need to confidently move closer towards your goals.

I believe that we are surrounded by more opportunities than ever before in our lifetime, to do more with our lives, to be better people and to contribute more to others, and its not the lack of wanting to create a better life and business that stops most of us, but the lack of clarity of our life’s purpose and it’s the lack of knowledge, guidance and support on how to pursue our dreams, that results in millions living average lives, when they have within them the potential for greatness.

Where’s This “Better Life and Business” Train Headed?

This train has left the station and I have a general direction in mind where I’d like to take this blog, but I fully expect to make course corrections as I listen to your comments and feedback and work to serve you better.

My 7 Areas of Focus To Create a Better Life and Business

Here are the 7 topics I’m passionate about and will focus on, with my writing:

  1. Finding your true purpose, passion and potential – We all have talents and gifts and a reason for being alive, let’s figure out what they are!
  2. Letting go, being happy and loving yourself – Let’s stop trying to control the things we can’t and learn give ourselves permission to love ourselves and be happy every day!
  3. Re-gaining control of your life through self improvement – You deserve to be the best version of yourself, let’s get you back in the driving seat of life!
  4. Becoming super healthy, both physically and mentally – We have one body and one mind to last us a lifetime, let’s prepare them for optimum performance!
  5. Productivity tips and skills to become superhuman – We all have 24 hours a day, let’s get more done by working smarter not harder!
  6. Building a freedom business you can run from anywhere – A girls gotta buy shoes and guys will always want more gadgets (and vice versa), so let’s learn the skills and build a business (a cash machine) to be proud of, to help you pay for things, a stage to share your message and make the world a better place!
  7. Designing, creating and living an extraordinary lifestyle – The average life expectancy gives us about 75 winters and 75 summers (some have more, other’s much less), let’s create a lifestyle where each day we’re doing the things that really matter and living life on our terms.

I’m Here To Serve You, But I Need Your Help

I haven’t figured it all out yet, nor do I claim to have all the answer in life or business. In fact, I still have a lot to learn, but I’m happy to share what I’ve found on my journey so far, to help make your life and business a little simpler, easier, happier and better!

There’s a lot I want to cover and I’m so excited to be able to share this journey with you.

Please send me your comments, questions, ideas or criticisms, as your thoughts, opinions and what you say matters to me. Your feedback will help shape this blog, help it to find its place in the world and become something that can help many more people on our journey to create a better life and business.

Some Final Words…

I truly believe that our paths were meant to cross.

Perhaps I’m supposed to share one of my life’s lessons to help you avoid a similar fate, or perhaps you’ll make me aware of something that helped you and that’ll help me out someday.

What’s important is that we’re here, and that we move forward knowing there’s a reason we met and this encounter will inevitably in some way, shape or form change both of our lives. I’m grateful for this opportunity to meet you, it’s been my pleasure.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this first blog post and my plans for the future of this blog (and world domination).

I’ll see you soon, and no matter whether we meet again here or someplace else, I will always believe that you were meant for greatness.

So go on, be better each day in your life and business…

  1. Wow, well done Urmil! What you described in “What’s Holding You Back”? is me. I am a serial procrastinator and after reading your post have become inspired to move forward. At 64 years old I’d better get a move on! I look forward to more excellent posts and working with you well into the future! Kind Regards, Bob.

    1. Thanks for your comment Bob.

It’s never too late to live better or start a better business. You’ve still got a good number of summers and winters left my friend.

Although procrastination is a tough cookie, once you’ve found your passion and purpose, you’ll be rocking and rolling, in no time.

  2. I have been waiting for you to write this blog for years! I think you have a ton to offer – I can’t wait to read everything you write. You have and continue to be an inspiration in my life.

  3. Great job Urmil! Your writing is so natural and easy, reading this post feels like a lot like having one of our personal life direction conversations. I’ve valued you, your insight and your friendship since we first met in 2008 and I knew back then that you needed to share your passion for helping people realize how much more they can be. I’m truly glad to see this post and can’t wait for your journey on here to unfold.

Great Work. Speak soon. Mukesh

    1. Thanks Mukesh,

I’m glad i’ve captured your interest.

We often take life too seriously, I certainly used to, but then someone once told me to lighten up because we can’t change the past, and have no guarantees for the future, so the best thing to do is just enjoy the present.

  6. Urmil…

Congrats on the launch of the blog! I’ve enjoyed working with you and appreciate the efforts you’ve put into my clients projects.

As you know, I represent a lot of authors, some of which are New York Times best sellers. If this first post is any indication, you’ve got what it takes to be a very successful writer/blogger.

I’ll look forward to reading future posts and wish you much success, my friend.

    1. Hey Burke,

Thanks for dropping by and for your kind words.

I still have a lot to learn and this blog will be my classroom to learn what I need to know, and my stage, to share my insights to help others follow their dreams.

Drop by anytime and feel free to share the many gold nuggets I know you have up your sleeve .

  7. Hi Urmil.
Very impressed with your first blog and really look forward to see how you put some meat on the bone. Also very much appreciate the open request for us to share any good information that has helped us in the past as well. Keep up the great work and you have got my vote anyway.

  8. Great job Urmil! Your first post is exactly what it should be: honest, clear, and let’s us know what to expect.

I speak and write a lot on the idea of taking action – not huge action, but just a single bold step. I know you think that way too, and putting up this site and starting the blog are great “simple bold steps.” 🙂

I look forward to reading more about your journey and learning about your upcoming points – they sound great!

    1. Thanks Avish for joining in here.

I’m looking forward to getting some exciting posts out over the next few weeks, by taking more simple bold steps.

Hope you’ll find them thought provoking and useful in your business.

  9. Good stuff, Urmil.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story. And as others have already commented: You’ve got what it takes. Now all that is required is action.

    Keep rocking!

    1. Hey Henri,

      Thanks for joining in here.

Taking action is the secret that so many people overlook, in my opinion. We all know we should do it, yet we want to have the next 300 steps figured out before taking the first one. That’s not how things work.

I started to make great progress in my business (i’ll share more in a future blog post) when i stopped thinking, stopped worrying about things i had no control over and just took action.

      It works every time 🙂

  10. It was the year 2005 and we were on a Plane flying to a convention in Las Vegas there you were sitting on the aisle seat next to me , I said hello , and you said hello ,..and for me …that was the beginning of your journey Urmil …

We engaged in conversation almost non stop from Heathrow to Las Vegas ..little did I know then…. that we were meant to meet ..and since then we have added enormous support, friendship and encouragement and success to each other’s business and family life ..

I truly believe as you do.. that our paths were meant to cross. You are very special Urmil , and you give and teach , with such clarity and passion ..

I remember your Internet Marketing Masterclass in 2009 , which was structured to give strategic guidance, to take our web business forward quickly , and equip us with all the core skills to make our business successful ..
The journey has been an immense pleasure Urmil , and it is just the beginning ..

You are one of the most talented and gifted Teacher , Trainer, Coach and what warmed me most , was how high you hold and care for your family ..

Your Vblog says it all , and I wish you every success with this next chapter of your journey , and for all who are reading this testimonial ..I suggest you enrol and register with Urmil , ..the material you will receive and the learning will be refreshing and enlightening
